Thank God It’s Them Insteeeeeeead of You
Back in September, my friends Ben and Wes and I invited a group of our favorite NYC musicians to cover the seminal ’80s classic “Feed the World (Let Them Know It’s Christmastime).” Two dozen of us congregated in our friend Travis’ Serious Business Studios in Soho and, over two days, in the sweltering heat, we pumped out an amazing version of the BandAid tune.
In addition to appearing on the BandAid cover, each participating musician/group contributed their own holiday song for the Family Holiday CD, which is now available for purchase on iTunes (click HERE for more information). All proceeds benefit 826NYC, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting students with their writing skills.
This Wednesday, December 5th, the participants, including El Jezel, Flying Machines, Ben Wagner, and many more, will be performing their individual contributions at the (free admission) Liberated Matter and Hot Rocks Charity Party at The Delancey. The performance will conclude with the entire roster performing “Feed the World (Let Them Know It’s Christmastime).” Please see below for details.
Here are some shots from the weekend we recorded.
