Your Love’s Coming Down Like Rain

Being the fabulous and dedicated Band in a Bubble blogger that I am, I raced down to Pier 54 immediately after receiving word that the Bubble’s entire glass front collapsed during the torrential downpour two nights ago. My exact words to the cabbie were “Step on it,” a phrase I have always loved to employ in time-sensitive situations.

After the treacherous 5-minute ride, I thrusted money at the cabbie, sprinted across the West Side Highway, and arrived at the Bubble rain-soaked and shivering, futily attempting to protect my laptop, digital camera, and cell phone (and awesome hair) from the monsoon-like conditions. After texting expletive-ridden messages to a number of my coworkers, I carefully maneuvered around piles of broken glass and approached the damaged Bubble. It was quite shocking to see the normally-intact structure missing an entire WALL of glass.

Cartel members Joseph and Jeff pulled me up into the Bubble and I chatted with the guys for a few moments about the disaster. The band members and their visiting moms were all in good spirits and, miraculously, unharmed. By the time I made it to the media trailer, situated behind the Bubble, I was shivering uncontrollably and dripping with rainwater. My camera somehow remained unscathed and, while the photos aren’t great, I hope they at least managed to capture the chaos. Rolling Stone even linked my coverage (giggle).

Cartel manages to stay dry.

Massive clean-up efforts.

Bah.

And the following morning…
