If I Can’t Have You, I Don’t Want Nobody, Baby
Six weeks have passed since I arrived here in Provincetown, Massachusetts. I have survived heat waves, rocky beaches, Bear Week, Family Week (I thought the double-wide strollers in Park Slope were bad), greenhead fly attacks, and Ryan Landry’s Showgirls. Twice. I’ve dined at every establishment in town. Twice. I’m a really fast biker (I named my mountain bike Lucy). I bought a red swimsuit with ruffles (LMAO!). I have observed seals and otters on the beach, as well as a daring mission in which half a dozen lifeguards set out to rescue some kayak-bound kids rapidly drifting out to sea. I spent way too much money on vintage jewelry at a flea market. I rubbed elbows with cult filmmaker John Waters at a gallery opening, chatted with gay advocate Kelly O’Donnell at a pirate-themed soiree, and, in the next few weeks, will be hanging with the multi-talented Cyndi Lauper (OMG!) at the annual Carnival parade.
Locals recognize me on the street as the camera girl (LOL!). I willingly put myself in harm’s way filming a bi-plane taking off at the Provincetown Airport (carrying one of our equally adventurous directors). I have mastered the art of presenting my business card to possible subjects I meet on the street. I am very proud of the footage I have shot. After years of neglecting one for the other, I feel I have finally struck a balance between working hard and playing hard.
And, in no particular order, here are some of the 400 photos I have snapped since rolling into P-Town in late June. You can see all of the photos HERE in my P-Town set.
Here’s me at the Firemen’s Ball, a staple of Bear Week. My “bear” nickname is Goldilocks.

Coolest…wings…ever.

Kook, one of the more outrageous theme parties in town, takes place every Sunday night in the tiny basement of a club called Enzo’s. Guests are invited to dress up; here are a few shots from sci-fi night.

I was working late and didn’t have time to put a costume together.

Production coordinator extraordinaire Melissa and I leave our mark at the Coin-O-Matic in nearby Orleans.

I offered Melissa $20 to perform a Bob Fosse routine atop a dryer in the crowded laundromat. And…she…did…it!!!

That Derek will do anything for a shot!

“Just kickin’ it” with Derek.

I will return to NYC on August 20th, exhausted, tanned, and ready to get back into the swing of things in the Big Apple. So just, you know, be there.
