I Got the Modern Sounds of Modern Massachusetts

For those of you I didn’t have a chance to chat with before running off, I’ve been in Provincetown (otherwise known as P-town, or “the New England Hamptons”) for the past two weeks working on a forthcoming documentary series called “P-Town Diaries.” Over the past sixteen days, I’ve been introduced to hundreds of people, eaten a LOT of seafood, and involuntarily received dozens of bug bites. I’ve encountered lighthouses, dangerous cliffs, countless discotheques (I’ve come to really love the remixed Brokeback Mountain theme), Coast Guards, drag queens, and so much more. Plus, I certainly don’t dislike the swimming pool, free movie screenings, and the delicious coffee the hotel offers.

To top it all off, I somehow ended up on the cover of the Cape Cod Times, camera in hand and clad in a dirty T-shirt, which was kinda awesome.

This is the first time I’ve had a moment to sit and reflect. We’ve been working long days, though I can’t complain because we’re generally shooting on the beach, in bars and restaurants, or on the streets, which are a notorious beehive of activity in P-Town. While I miss my friends and family, I really did need a break after living in New York City for seven years. P-town is definitely bustling, but the pace is much more relaxed than New York City, which I find surprisingly nice.

Photos soon, I promise. And as soon as my wireless card is delivered here to the hotel, I’ll be emailing and blogging much more regularly. Keep me updated on all of your summer plans! Kiss.

That’s awesome! My grandfather used to be the minister at the P-town Unitarian church… while my family has always visited Provincetown as long as I’ve been alive, I’ve never really known “the whole story.” I’m sure the final project will be awesome… and if nothing else, it sounds like you’re having an awesome time working on it….
