In bizarre news, Michael Jackson caught in a shopping mall’s ladies room. I almost — almost — laughed when I read the first sentence of this article: A Tunisian woman was shocked to find Michael Jackson was the man in the mirror of a shopping mall ladies room in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. As a topical project, I think Michael should cover sister Janet’s “Nasty”: No, my name aint baby, it’s Michael, Miss Jackson if you’re nasty!
Sorry.
In other news, GQ magazine makes history by naming Jennifer Aniston Man of the Year.
Last night I stayed up very late watching “A Cook’s Tour,” a fascinating Food Network special about Tony Bourdain, a feisty and rather short-fused American chef/writer who travels Morocco in search of a whole roasted sheep. At first, his demands irritated me (”I want my whole roasted sheep NOW, dammit!”) but he started to grow on me. It was very endearing when Tony, waiting for the Berbers to prepare his lamb, leaned back in awe and watched the sun set over the Sahara. He mused, “I’ve screwed up everything in my entire life, but I must have done something right to be here now.” It was a VERY exciting moment, for both of us, when he was finally able to enjoy his clay oven-roasted sheep. Tony is also very handsome:

have you read any of bourdain’s books? he’s blustery on the page, too. but when you want a sheep you want a sheep, I suppose.

I haven’t read any of his books, but I added Kitchen Confidential to my Amazon wishlist today. If he’s as sexily arrogant in his writing as he is on his show, I think I’m his newest fan. Which book would you recommend?
Yeah, at one point, Tony sucked down a cigarette and commanded his driver between drags, “Find me a sheep — NOW.” I thought I was dozing off because his insensitivity seemed REALLY out of line - but like I said about halfway through the episode, I started to find him almost charming.

The Kitchen Confidential sitcom just axed along with Arrested Development, I believe.

There’s a Kitchen Confidential sitcom? What network?

Fox monday nights, right after Arrested Development… at least when they’re actually on. I assume KC will be back in December with AD, to finish up its run. Not entirely sure, though.

Who knew? The only program I watch on Fox is Arrested Development. I’ll be goddamned.

I love Bourdain! He’s obnoxious in the way I think we all wish we had the balls to be sometimes.
